There’s a dance epidemic in Mexico – Carla Morrison showed us her moves in “Un Beso” video a few weeks ago and now Hello Seahorse! has debuted their “Me He Convertido” (“I Have Become”) video where a self-saboteur gothic-ish woman dances with a monster. Whatever happened to dancing with your gay best friend – seems like Morrison and Hello Seahorse! wants to promote exotic mutant partners.
“Me He Convertido” has a quiet edginess to it that gives a dark vibe even during the acoustic initial melody. Among the sea of midtempo percussions, the frontman Denise’s gently drilling voice rushes us into a heightened ambience where we embrace the evil side. It’s fine though, as long as we are not caught in dance partner tug-of-war like in the pseudo-Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain,” we’re good.
Hello Seahorse! is a psychedelic pop/rock quartet from Mexico who became a music contagion with their single “Bestia.”
