Skylar Spence Jettisoned Us to Prom Kingdom Live

We couldn’t miss Skylar Spence yesterday when he hit LA for his Prom King tour. The American vaporwave band, formerly known as Saint Pepsi, released Prom King back in September and has been electro-funking across the country in the past month. The entire performance – at The Echo in LA – felt like the vibrations were pumping Pepsi (no pun intended) straight into our central nervous system, inducing us to cavort and flail our arms like inebriated chimpanzees. Even Ryan DeRobertis (frontman and producer behind the band) declared that this was the best show he had so far and despite melting like cheddar cheese in his sweater amidst the hyped overheated crowd, he couldn’t stop smiling. We are giving him extra points by performing in his 100° sweater AND knowing how to shake-dance like Ian Curtis minus the whole gloominess.

Our personal favorite performance was “Fiona Coyne”
