There are only three things that we know about the band P’ARIS: 1) it’s a Canadian duo, 2) they craft electropop and 3) that electropop is amazeballer. No Instagram, yes Twitter and Facebook, but no “about” section. Seems like the two (dudefest?) is getting their fix of schadenfreude by torturing us with sparse information of who they are – almost how Seoul started with anonymity before they finally lifted the curtains up. We’re guessing it’s a Canadian thing.
P’ARIS’ latest and third single, “Focus,” is a dark-themed synth ballad despite the buoyant dancey tone that the jam runs on – if you listen to the lyrics closely, it’s about coping with the loss of a family member and helping your partner get through it, as well as yourself. This form of melodically masked heartbreak seems like a P’ARIS signature as the duo’s second track, “Confidence,” is also a mood antithesis and taps upon loss. Check out the video below:
