When it comes to British synthpop duo, Aquilo, we are caught in ambivalence – lyrically they have some saccharine lines that you’d expect to eyeroll, but instead you end up reciting it in the shower and feasting on its bittersweet cheesiness – oh Cheesus. Without sounding like a boyband, Aquilo knows how to hook you up with heart-rendering words like “Hold on, I got a feeling that this is almost over.” Hit their new live video performance for “Almost Over” from their fresh live EP, Midnight:

Aquilo may not glue to your ears right away if downtempo pop is not your cup of tea. But you WILL go back to them – that moment when you feel like canceling chaotic noise and just want some sonic peace, Aquilo will seep into your mind. And next thing you know, you’re crying your lungs out in the front row.
