Yumi Zouma Wants You to Yolo With Yoncalla

When you hear the moniker Yumi Zouma, your first reaction is that it sounds like an anime character or a sarcastic adult cartoon protagonist – none of them are true. Yumi Zouma is a New Zealand-made electropop quartet who weave staggering web of synthpop that are clasped together with ear-adhesive hooks. Their debut LP Yoncalla is scheduled to be released on May 27, but you can stream the entire sonic zen now:

If you ever wanted a record that would soundtrack the cheerful tranquility of a weekend afternoon, Yoncalla is the answer. It has the punch of zealous pop, but the soothing interludes in-between that numbs out all your thoughts and just indulge in the glassy vocals of Christie Simpson. Aside from Simpson, Yumi Zouma is also comprised of Sam Perry, Charlie Ryder, and Josh Burgess who started jamming together back in 2013. They are on tour now:
