Waiting can be painful – nowadays waiting is another synonym for checking your phone. Your mind just wanders into another dimension of apps, newsfeed, and hashtags. Maryland indie rockers, Wye Oak, dropped a surrealistic, dreamy video “Watching the Waiting” where we see mirror reflections of the duo who keep a cool unhappy poise that resonates your own waiting-face. The track is perfect to chillax and to kill time – the gliding strings and cushioning high pitch of Jenn Wasner immediately hypnotizes you into a peaceful stream of replays that numbs your awareness of time. Before you know it, it’s time to leave for the weekend:

“Watching the Waiting” is from their fifth album Tween, which they released on Spotify yesterday (the physical copy will be available on August 5) alongside the video. Formed back in 2006, Wyn Oak is made up of Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner who are masters of inducing rock and folk in a symbiosis in the indie soundscape. Their 2011 song, “Civilian,” was featured in shows like The Walking Dead and films like Safety Not Guaranteed. They are about to start touring:
