Made-in-Oaklad indietronic duo, Soto Voce, is the new master of hypnotic electronic sonicsphere that that will send you synthchilling vibration in startling motion through your veins. Comprised of Kenny Soto (vocals/bossbitch) and Miguel De Vivo (production/emotionless-face pro), Soto Voce has already accumulated 30k plays on SoundCloud for their single “Better” and gained wide acclaim for their edgy, daring music video for it. Their sound has been described as a giant, ear-blowing orgy of new wave, dark pop and R&B…here’s our shortcut description for it: nü-fiercewave. “Better” your ears by clicking the majestic triangular button:
Directed by Tyler Oliver, “Better” is a politically-themed noir video that resonates the backgrounds of the two (Soto is a trans dudette while De Vivo is an immigrant dude from Colombia). The ah-ahh croons of Kenny dissolves in atmospheric haze, leaving us suspended in a hypnotic state of doomingly soothing chaos. Soto Voce transmits the same chills onstage, but with more dancefloor-friendly vigor as they demonstrated on their performance at The Satellite (Silverlake). Vicariously feel the chills:
Soto Voce has an upcoming self-titled EP due this fall – they haven’t announced yet so stalk them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Meanwhile, check out all the show dates at The Satellite (they have FREE ones).
