“You gotta set us / Set us free” chant Bloom Twins. The Ukrainian twin poptresses, Bloom Twins, take us into an edgy pop territory throbbing with hope in their new single “Set Us Free.” There is a cry for freedom in the piercingly wispy vocals of the duo amidst the marching thumps that enter your ears in midtempo. While melodically the song doesn’t feel rushed, there is a sense of urgency from their vocals that injects you with a thrilling vigor. It’s the type of glossy, unglamorous pop that won’t try to PG-version anything, but unveil you the flaws and scars through the lyrics. Play below:

“Set Us Free” was influenced by the twins’ experience with the uprising Ukraine and although it is by no means a political song, it is a call for freedom. The Bloom Twins are Sonia and Anna Kuprienko, who are identical twins and have received classical training. Their debut track “Fahrenheit” was released back in 2013 and since then, the sisters have built a solid fanbase and toured Europe with the iconic Duran Duran. They are currently hitting the studio recoring their debut album with Duran Duran’s Nick Rhodes. So for now, watch their video “Amnesia” and follow the gals on Facebook and Twitter.
