Garage & post-progressive quartet hailing from Providence, The Rare Occasions, kicked off their first show of 2017 at The Viper Room in Los Angeles. Formed back in 2012, The Rare Occasions have been dominating the East Coast’s college radio scenes with their music. Their sound parallels garage rock by its atmospheric feel and though the instrumental arrangements are dense, it gives a sense of physical buoyancy. Their latest record, Futureproof, flows with ornate melodies that have psychier fusion of experimental and post-progressive ingredients. Check it out:
The four-piece act relocated fully to LA last year and has already dominated the live scene in the city by opening for bands such as Smash Mouth last December. They recently performed at the legendary venue, The Viper Room,* based in Hollywood. Check out photos below:
*The Viper Room is a nightclub that opened back in 1993 and was owned by Johnny Depp til 2004. It was a popular hangout spot for young actors and artists including Jared Leto, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Angelina Jolie. The venue has gone through several changes of ownership, but still remains a famous place for up-and-coming artists.
