Nestling between a zany tone and zealous pop rhythm, The Liebling’s sophomore album Let Them Have It! feels like a panoramic view of progressive Finnish pop where there are no restrictions or rules in the genre hodgepodge. Even their color-popping video, “Spark,” embraces the crossover of various unseemly elements that actually yield an unexpected degree of aestheticism. All the dance moves are awkward and yet it manages to match the rhythm of the guitar slashes and percussive pulses. You don’t want to dance like them, but you do want to dance:

Formed in Helsinki, The Lieblings is a quartet comprised of members who have played or currently play in various bands including The Pansies, The Sugarrush, Shadowplay, The Wrecking Queens, and MHNT. They debuted their first record, Take Us To Your Leader, more than three years ago and have been shaking up the Finnish scene ever since. As of now, they have an album release show coming up:
