POND’s New Video “The Weather” Is What Humanity’s Downfall Looks Like If You Were On Xanax

Mellow song to watch destruction.

Aussie quartet, POND, places us in the extremes of absurdity and chaos in their new video “The Weather” – a chintzy, retro montage of steamy clips with interludes of forest fires. The video feels like the definition of meditation – you step aside and immerse yourself in the mellow, psychedelic synthpop as you watch the lecherous side of capitalism while the world burns in flames. Even though the video is not in slow motion, it feels like slow motion – as if you were watching it on Xanax:

“What does one do in the Worst Case Scenario? Our friend Evelyn told about an old game – a card game or something – called ‘The Worst Case Scenario Survival Game’. ‘The Weather’ is about reality’s penchant for unearthly deceleration in moments of total disaster and panic (micro and macro), and the real – flawed and silly and irredeemably human – humans who experience them. In these moments – when there is no more fan for the shit to hit – the once vain and frivolous pleasures of life seem so… not.”

“The Weather” is from POND’s upcoming album with the same title, which will be out on May 5th. They will start hitting the stages starting mid-April.
