UK model/actress/songstress Shystie explores the underground world of human trafficking in her new video “Wake Up.” It’s a heavy topic, but Shystie manages to shed light into the issue in a more digestible and reflective format without losing the gravity of it. The use of teal and red visuals play well in building a suspenseful atmosphere where our eyes get glued to Shystie’s every movement. The song, produced by Cyantific, has an infusion of electropical elements where the judicious arrangements of samples and synths yield an aerated beat structure. Stream below:

“Wake Up” is based on human trafficking, a modern issue that Shystie feels strongly about and is trying to raise awareness. Directed and produced by female duo Xiphi Films, “Wake Up” gives us a glimpse of modern slavery where a lot of women are victims of – there are currently over 13,000 victims of human trafficking in the UK.

The single is the latest work of Shystie, who has already toured with 50 Cent and featured with artists such as Azealia Banks, Ms. Dynamite, and many more. “Wake Up” is already circulating around radio stations, so memorize the lyrics for the summer.
