Swedish trio Ember Island dropped the official video for its Rihanna’s “Umbrella” cover where we see the trio in a monochromatic and misty setting, giving a lighter light to the original hit. By stripping down the slashing edginess and hooking thumps, Ember Island thickens the atmospheric layer of the track and slows it down for the listeners to fully focus on the emotional weight of the lyrics. Hit play below:

Ember Island met back in 2012ish and the three of them started songsculpting together, releasing various covers including Justin Bieber’s “Where Are Ü Now” and Radiohead’s “Creep.” They also released their own single, “Stay,” and have been working on their debut EP, which will be comprised of original songs. The trio hasn’t announced any release dates yet.
