Sonder: everyone’s life is as complicated as yours.

“Life as it happens to you / You know, you know / But the days and nights won’t stop” chant Ardyn in their new single “Life Happens.” With an undeniable theatricality, the British duo pushes us to a broader view of existentialism where they remind us that everyone’s got the same problems, emotions, and ambitions as we all do….they just don’t Instagram it all the time. Well, most of them don’t. Driven by an aerial melody built on glimmering chords and piano taps, the choruses land into your ears with a hypnotic flare. The ohhh-ing echoes add a cathartic punch to it that raises your goosebumps – “Life Happens” has an uncanny cinematographic effect on your senses that lingers even after the song ends. Stream below:

Comprised of siblings Katy and Rob Pearson, Ardyn hails from Stroud, UK. “Life Happens” draws inspiration from the meaning of “sonder” – a word that Rob ran into while casually reading Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows blog. According to it, sonder is “the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own – populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries, and inherited craziness…” Produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkey, Haim, Jessie Ware, Florence and the Machine), “Life Happens” is the follow up single of the band’s debut EP, The Valley, which came out back in August of this year. As of now, the sibling duo has show dates coming up:

10/20 – Kamio (London, UK)

10/21 – Various Venues, Cardiff (Cardiff, UK)
