Danish trio Scarlet Pleasure is taking a stylistic twist by toying with reggae ingredients in their new electropical single “Unreliable.” It is a lush, lovesick groove where the choruses are shrouded with the pulse of a throbbing broken heart. Taking us into the tangles of distrust that rises from a self-destructive relationship, Scarlet Pleasure uses outré samples and ambience ingredients to keep the beats queasily jumping and rolling throughout. “Before you pass out drunk on the floor / Shining like a Tiffany / Do you ever think of me?” chant Scarlet Pleasure. The scorching and gloriously intimate lyrics gives us a portrayal of being in love with the wrong person and how their self-saboteurism can essentially become toxic to our mental health. “Unreliable” is the follow up of previous singles “Deja Vu” and “Good Together,” which have made waves across the press around the world. It is also from their surprise EP, Lagune, which they dropped today and is available here. The trio is the most played Danish act on the radio and already has Platinum-certified singles as well as Gold-certified EP (Limbo) under their belt. The trio is on tour right now, so go see them live:
