Meet Cassia: Crafters Of Calypso-Flavoured Afro-Rock

Hailing from Macclesfield, UK, Cassia is a trio that songsculpts a gauze-like rock sound that has been stitched with unmixable genres, yet magically come together into a hazy harmony. Even the vocals of the trio do not typically fit into any genre – you don’t get the smooth high pitch or deep low pitch, but an offbeat coarse voice that oddly grows in you. Watch “Sink” below:

Comprised of Rob Ellis (lead vocals, guitar), Lou Cotterill (bass, vocals), and Jacob Leff (drums, vocals), Cassia debuted their first record back in 2011 titled In Faith & Unison. Since then, the band has released several EPs and their album Front Runner (2013). Cassia has been making buzz across the rock scene in 2017. They’ve played six sold-out shows in the UK, performed at various festivals, and toured across Europe including Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland.
