Don’t make resolutions for New Year – instead, perform a spiritual self-diagnosis to start working from the inside. Aussie creative powerhouse Golden Vessel and his good collaborator/Jesus-lookalike Emerson Leif take us into a slo-mo reflection of spiritualism in their new single “Hesitate.” The track feels like the soundtrack of a movie where you see the protagonist walking down the hall towards a door that leads to the other side. It’s a comforting suspense that we can all relate from the corners of our existential spirit. Sonically, “Hesitate” is a song with a pulse where the whispery vocals and bleeping sounds breathe within you. Stream below:
During the time “Hesitate” was written, Emerson was going through his own spiritual crisis. “I had many questions about life but the greatest question was one of God. Or better yet, one for God. ‘Are you there?’ Honestly, religion just felt so tired and insular. I wanted something tangible. I wanted to find truth. The idea of searching is perhaps most terrifying, because what if one finds nothing,” he said.
“‘Hesitate’ came about from these old vocals and acoustic guitar loops that Caleb had recorded years ago. We dug those up and sampled them, and built ‘Hesitate’ around them. This is one of my favourite songs that I’ve ever made and it’s kind of just been sitting on my laptop for over a year. I can’t tell you how happy I am to finally get it out.” explained Golden Vessel.
“Hesitate” is available now everywhere and for those in Australia, make sure you catch Golden Vessel live:
