Strange Names Brings Extraterrestrial Cinematography To Earth With “UFO”

Confusing, retro, funny.

Brooklyn trio Strange Names has unveiled the video for their single “UFO” where we see a series of random clips in retro, 90s quality that is both confusing and comic. It’s an outerspace new wave groove that is built on arrhythmic flow and conspiracy theories. If aliens were to take a course on Humans 101, this is the introductory video they would all watch:

“Our friend Pedro Lopez shot it, and we edited it. It’s heavily inspired by the Bauhaus school, and pretty much encapsulates the overall stylistic message of the record. The video should make you seize a little, giggle, stew in confusion, and hopefully move around. I envision it in the background of Elizabeth Hurley’s hell nightclub in the early 00s Bedazzled remake.” shared frontman Liam Benzvi.

“UFO” is from Strange Names’ upcoming sophomore album Data, which will be out on February 23rd via Frenchkiss Records. Comprised of Liam Benzvi, Franics Ximenez, and Fletcher Aleckson, Strange Names formed back in 2015 in Minneapolis and are based in Brooklyn. The trio has a show coming up following their album release, so make sure to check them out live:
