Explore The Dark Lush Waters Of Beach Pop With PLYA’s “Adrenaline”

Pronounced as playa.

We have to admit – we initally pronounced it as “play ya” and thought it was super dope, thinking that it was a new slang phrase. But turned out that the band PLYA is pronounced as the Spanish word ‘playa’ (beach in English). The London-based trio makes a dark and emotional synthphony that feels like the blend of London’s fogginess and Los Angles’ coastal dreams. Their latest track “Adrenaline” is almost a theatrical piece that hits you on the chest with its waves of heavy-hearted synths. Refreshing and gut-wrenching at the same time, “Adrenaline” gradually builds into a rush:

Comprised of Julia Sykes (vocals), Kris Taylor (guitar) and William Brown (drums), PLYA broke the electronic scene last year with their single “Thinking of You.” As of now, PLYA  is working on their upcoming debut album, which they haven’t announced any release dates yet. So go ask them in their upcoming show:

3/2 – Thekla (Bristol, UK)
