The Kills Unveil An Eruptive Cover Of Saul Williams’ “List Of Demands (Reparations)”

London duo The Kills has unveiled their cover of Saul Williams’ “List of Demands (Reparations)” backed with the cover of Peter Tosh’s “Stepping Razor” and a new video for it. Directed by Ben Strebel, the video depicts people wearing prisoner uniforms and handcuffs that serve as metaphorical wake-up call towards apathy – whether that is towards society or personal areas. The rushing rap choruses and bursting drums place you into the cusp between post-punk and garage rock:

“It’s a song of strength and empowerment, rooted in the idea of rising above,” Alison Mosshart shared. “It was one of those songs you’re almost scared to cover, because it carries so much respect. It wasn’t a straight up love song or a drug song. It was defined, serious, and perfect already. With certain songs, you feel like an intruder trying to sing them, but this one felt like my own.”
