Courtney Barnett Jams In the Cosmos In Her New Video “Need A Little Time”

For all of us who need a break from earth

Courtney Barnett becomes an astronaut in her new video “Need A Little Time” where we see the gal go on a space exploration without the need for oxygen. She only needs her guitar to make it in space…whatever that means out there. The song melodically captures the desire to take a break from everything – whether it is from events, relationships, media, etc. “Everybody wants to have their say, / Forever waiting for some car crash / I need a little time out.” Sometimes you just want to leave earth and have some time for yourself like Courtney does in the video:

In regards to the video, Director Danny Cohen explained “‘Need A Little Time’ has this soaring, floating feeling to it. I decided to play on the meaning of the song, Courtney needs some time away from herself (and you). I didn’t want to show Courtney leaving her friends/family/fans etc, it needed to be more metaphorical. Courtney floats through space and time, ends up in some isolated part of the universe. She finally has found some time alone, just Courtney and her guitar, singing in space without a care in the world.”

“Need A Little Time” is from Courtney’s upcoming album Tell Me How You Really Feel, which will be out on May 18th through Mom + Pop, Marathon Artists and Barnett’s own label Milk! Records. Courtney will start touring at the end of April:
