Opening up with a swinging ambient beat, Jada Lee suspends us right in the middle of a chaotic affair in her new R&B single “Star67.” The track opens up with the tense lines, “Last night was an accident / Last night there was an incident” where Jada starts recounting an unintentional hookup with a committed man. It is a brazen ballad that is flooded with the vulnerability and confusion of being the other woman. Shifting from lo-fi pop to R&B, Jada sings with fire and transparency where she takes us through the self-inflicted burn in the aftermath of the affair. In spite of the heavy-hearted guilt, the track exudes an air of seduction that is galvanizing to a degree. “Calling me, stressing me / Baby, you need to talk to your man” chants Jada.
