Australian producer Solo Dan, whose real name is Daniel Craig (no, we’re not joking), channels the vibrant and exhilarating sensation of a night out in his new single “Hotstep” featuring Perth-based artist Quincy. It’s a banging reminder that even if you don’t get laid, as long as you slayed the dancefloor, you’re still winning in life at the end of the night. Stream below:
In regards to the lyrical inspo of the song, Daniel shared “I’d never actually heard Quincy sing until he came over to my studio one day to write. He had a big night out the night before, going to a local dance party to meet up with a love interest. After looking for a while he couldn’t actually find him, but he didn’t seem to mind as he got so swept up with dancing and having fun. The hook is essentially about him not caring if they went home together because he just had the best night out dancing anyway.”
Aside from James Bond, Daniel is also part of the electropop project GRRL PAL with Perth artist Jay Lekat. After years of successful releases and touring, Daniel decided to embark on his solo adventure. Be on the lookout for more Solo Dan’s beats this year.
