Anna Calvi Drops Anti-Patriarchal & Anti-Heteronormative Anthem “Hunter”

For the anti-basics out there

London-based artist Anna Calvi explores gender roles in her new haunting and visceral single “Hunter.” Exuding a sensual smokiness, “Hunter” is not trying to seduce anyone but a self-celebratory track that pushes femininity beyond the heteronormative borders. The atmospheric tension and Anna’s edgy vocals make “Hunter” an underground trip to our own sexuality:

In regards to the track, Anna explained that it’s about “exploring a more subversive sexuality, which goes further than what is expected of a woman in our patriarchal heteronormative society.”

The track is the follow up of Anna’s latest album Don’t Beat the Girl Out Of My Boy. Anna will start an extensive European tour next month that will go on until February of next year. Make sure you catch her in person:
