Molly Burch Defy Power’s Stereotype In “To The Boys”

Soft-burning power anthem

Austin-based artist Molly Burch seems to be the hero of anti-heroes – she makes songs that go against everything that has been indoctrinated into our minds by the media and school. In her last track “Wild,” she embraced imperfections – now in her new single, “To The Boys,” she tackles the stereotypes associated with what a powerful person looks like. It’s a soft-burning jam that blends influences of pop, jazz, and soul where Molly’s cool high-pitch vocals change the power dynamics without raising her voice. Stream below:

“I’ve been called soft-spoken a lot in my life and I feel like I’ve carried that around with me. It seems like a lot of us have internalized this image of what a ‘powerful’ person looks and sounds like, what a leader looks and sounds like. Hopefully that’s changing. This song is about finding your power and holding it with confidence, and not apologizing for being yourself.” shared Molly.

“To The Boys’ is from Molly’s upcoming album First Flower, which will be out on October 5th. The gal will be touring North America and Europe this fall, so go check her out:
