Daniella Mason Soundtracked Your Public Meltdown With “Public Places”

When you leave your sanity at home

Glossed with the textural vibrancy of pop, Daniella Mason’s “Public Places” captures our public meltdowns in the most jaunty and poised way possible. The Nashville-based poptress toys with the rhythmic intricacies of dance song to capture the chaos and freedom of unleashing your emotions out in the open. Lyrically, the song is a narrative of incompatible lovers caught in a wrong-time-wrong-place where one of them has lost it. We’ve all been that person:

“Public Places” is from Daniella’s upcoming EP Emotional State, which will be out on October 5th. “This is by far the least competitive I’ve ever been with a project,” explained Mason. “I’ve always been a storyteller, but I often let expectations creep in and disrupt the process. With this project, I purposefully waited to put my business hat on until after the creative process was finished, allowing things to unfold organically, uninterrupted. It’s been a new experience for me, and I hope these EPs continue to reveal more and more of what’s been hidden.”

She will be playing some shows in the upcoming weeks, so go see her in person:

9/19 – Mercury Lounge (New York, NY, USA)

10/11 – Resident (Los Angeles, CA, USA)

10/13 – The Basement (Nashville, TN, USA)
