LA-based artists, Jay Som (aka Melina Duterte) and Justus Proffit, are getting ready to release their collaborative EP Nothing’s Changed this Friday via Polyvinyl Records. To give you a taste of what they have in store for us, the duo has shared “Invisible Friends” today alongside a run of tour dates this winter. Enjoy below:

“Melina and I wanted this song to sound really big. This song is kind of Oasis inspired. Every 2-count of the song there is a note hit on the keyboard, that was inspired by Len’s “Steal My Sunshine.” We generally just wanted a groovy 90’s rock song,” Justus Proffit shared in regards to the song.

With their collaborative project, the duo didn’t hesitate to venture out to the territories of garage rock, art pop and even country twang. “[Making Nothing’s Changed] felt more like a school project than a recording project,” sayid Proffit. Duterte added, “I think we both challenged each other with each song, forcing ourselves to either stick to an idea or move on, and accept mistakes.”

Tickets for their tour will go on-sale this Friday at 10am locally. Make sure to catch the duo this winter:
