UK industrial noise-punk duo Black Futures takes us into the suspenseful and overwhelming emptiness of Joshua Tree desert in their video “Trance.” The video is a mixture of LSD visuals and enlightening euphoria/crisis that capture the colossal absence that desert isolation can have into every human’s mental state. Loneliness drowns you with feat, but at the same time gives you the time to digest your own thoughts. Watch below:
“Deserts are a fantastic place for expanding your mind,” shared Black Futures. “It is impossible not to feel insignificant in such a vast, dangerous, overwhelming landscape. Welcome to a day in the life of a founding member of the Mojave Desert Black Futures Expedition Club. Wandering through existence becoming physically and mentally overwhelmed by the beauty and absurdity of existence. A pure, joyous, nihilistic display of reckless abandon.”
As a celebration of their video release, Black Futures have taken the role of a therapist and are asking to confess your darkest secrets here. They won’t judge you.
“Trance” is from the duo’s latest EP Expedition 001, which is out now on vinyl in limited 100 copies. You can get your copy here. The duo has some shows coming up in winter:
