And they’re very complicated

Canadian artist Ria Mae dives into the complexity of the emotional and mental state that 2018 is leaving us in her new electropop single “Hold Me” ft. Frank Kadillac. It’s an upbeat rush of indietronica and pop that navigates through the ambivalence, toxicity, and hope we struggle in today’s overcrowded yet isolating world. Co-written by Ria in Nicaragua with her fellows Frank Kadillac (Neon Dreams), John Nathaniel and artist Lowell, “Hold Me” sums up 2018 so far:

The gist of the song came up during a conversation among Ria, Frank, and Lowell. “We were sharing how lately we felt unsure of how to engage online and remain positive in the current social climate,” shared Ria. “We were talking about how easy life used to feel when we were young and how anxious a lot of our peers seem to be right now. The song is just an honest depiction of how this year is making us feel.”

“Hold Me” is from Ria’s upcoming EP, which will be released early next year. She has show dates coming up next month, so go see her:
