Japanese Wallpaper Wants Us To Be More Emotionally Aware By “Fooling Around”

He’s Australian

Japanese Wallpaper is the kind of artist that doesn’t makes sense, yet somehow hits the spot. For instance, just by hearing his moniker, you immediately assume that he’s some underground artist in Tokyo who makes eccentric electronic music. Only the latter half is true cus he’s actually a 21-year-old Australian named Gab Strum. To make matters even more complicated (?), his latest single “Fooling Around” is a meditative indietronic piece that is actually about being more emotionally tuned with yourself. Using a blend of lo-fi atmospherics and tinkling synths, Japanese Wallpaper takes us into a misty outerspace that conjures a galactic vision of a fantasy film. There’s a lot happening”

“It’s a song about figuring out how to accept your feelings and stand up for yourself. It has nothing to do with actually ‘Fooling Around’ haha. It’s about self belief and not ignoring your emotions.” shared Gab.

“Fooling Around” is from Japanese Wallpaper’s upcoming album, which is currently on the works. He’ll be touring North America this November with Shallou, so go see him:
