Kero Kero Bonito’s “Flyway” Is A Flight Beyond Our Imagination & Sanity

A modern fairytale born out of mental facility.

London trio Kero Kero Bonito boxes us into a pristine and intimate moment of freedom in their new video “Flyway” where we see vocalist Sarah indulging in nature and revisiting an old bird friend. For the non-Internet geeks, this video might seem like visiting someone’s memory surrounded by nature. BUT for reddit nerds out there, you know this video is just a part of the story that Sarah is telling throughout her album where she analyzes the theory of time’n’place (click to read. Just read it). To give you the Wikipedia version, the record follows the story of a protagonist also named Sarah who is housed in a mental facility and is dreaming about the world beyond the walls. Here’s a glimpse of her imagination:

On “Flyway,” according to vocalist Sarah, the protagonist is “most likely visiting the person from the facility she wanted to see again.” Additionally, aside from the fact that birds metaphorically symbolize freedom, it is also a tribute to the singer’s real bird pet that passed away…

We haven’t done this much deep analysis since our gloriously irresponsible college days. Anyways, “Flyway” is from KKB’s new album Time’n’Place, which is out now. If you like tangible music, then the physical copy will be available on January 11th of next year. Also, make sure to see KKB in person if they happen to hit your city:
