Scottish quartet The Van T’s redefines the notion of being cool in their new alternative rock single “Suis-Je Cool?” The title is French for “Am I Cool?” in English and it dives into the the emotional insecurities that haunts us when we are marginalized as misfits. With the edginess of garage and sparkling groove of surf pop, “Suis-Je Cool?” is a reminder that conforming to the basic notion of coolness is boring as fuck:

“The track itself is pretty fast and furious. It’s our first track released in over a year so I guess we wanted it to be a reminder that The Van T’s are back. ‘Suis-je cool?’ In French means, ‘Am I cool?’ – it’s a song dedicated to those who feel they struggle to fit in, but should embrace everything about themselves. This song has a lot of passion and rage at the same time. Through this song, we wanted to put across an essence of lust and relentlessness. Essentially, it’s important to do what makes you strong and happy” explained singer Hannah.

Comprised of twins Chloe Van Thompson (vocals, guitar) and Hannah Van Thompson (vocals guitar) alongside Joanne Forbes (bass) and Shaun Hood (drums), The Van T’s formed in Scotland back in 2013. They’ve been garnering buzz across the UK in the past year and played at major festivlas including Live At Leeds, TRNSMT, and Communion Festival. The quartet has shows coming up in Scotland in the next few weeks, so see them live:
