Montreal-based hip-hop trio Planet Giza gives us a shot of happiness with their latest single “You Wasn’t Lyin” – a lo-fi, groovy piece that flows with an infectious buoyancy hard to resist. Layered with invigorating aggression and tenderness, “You Wasn’t Lyin” exhibits an intensity that is built with precision to boost your mood while keeping it chill. Directed by Walib Jabri, the video features a chill picnic that we all wish we were there:

“To us, ‘You Wasn’t Lyin’ is the happy motivational dance song you listen to in the morning. It’s about not letting people dim your light and pushing through no matter what the situation is. We feel like the hook to this song empowers anyone who sings it as we tried to put a smile on their faces.” shared Planet Giza.

Comprised of Rami B, Tony Stone, and Dumix, Planet Giza have released various pojects in the last few years. Mostly known for their chill funk/hip-hop sound, the trio are known for toying with genres and using their multi-cultural backgrounds as influences. “You Wasn’t Lyin” is from Planet Giza’s upcoming album Added Sugar, which will be out on February 12th. They have a show coming up:
