Tessa Violet Makes All Of Our Pseudo-Romance Come True In “I Like (The Idea Of) You”

Pseudo-love song

Nashville-based artist Tessa Violet takes us on a playful and jovial ride with her latest starry-eyed single “I Like (The Idea Of) You.” It sounds like a love song on the surface, but when you dive into the lyrical realm, it’s really a fake love song where Tessa indulges in the idea of romance with someone who is not really for us. Through its glossy layers of upbeat rhythms and Tessa’s siren-like voice, “I Like (The Idea Of) You” delivers the emotional euphoria our own imagination can create out of reality:

“I was seeing this guy at the time who I knew wasn’t that into me. And even though I could see that, it was still so much fun to think and obsess about him. Replaying the way he said my name on the phone, imagining what I would wear or say the next time I saw him, thinking of things I could write about him. I remember that I could logically see it wasn’t going anywhere, so I thought maybe I should feel embarrassed about how much time I was spending on him. But it didn’t make me feel embarrassed, it made me feel sexy and powerful. So what if they’re not that into me? I like the idea of it and I’m going to enjoy that.” explained Tessa.

The track is from Tessa’s upcoming album Bad Ideas, which she will be unveiling more throughout this year. Tessa will be playing at Lollapalooza this year, so go see her:
