“They say everything happens for a reason / I don’t know if I believe it / But at least it’s something to hold onto” chants Lillimure in her latest single “Something.” Through soft strumming and sparkling keys, Lillimure delivers a self-empowering optimism that feels organic and has been distilled from her own honest experiences. There is a ruminative undertone throughout the song as Lillimure unveils her own vulnerability through her vocals that ring with crystal-cutting fashion. “Something” is minimalistic, but radiates a lush that is fueled by Lillimure’s voice and hooks that keeps you buoyed. “This song was inspired by a series of events that made me feel helpless. It’s about finding what resonates with you the most to push through and knowing that there is an educational value to every situation. I hope this song can break the stigma about success- for every notable win, there are more unseen ‘losses’ and true success comes from overcoming the obstacles you face to do what you love” explained Lillimure.
Based in Westchester, New York, Lillimure is only 19 years old, but has already performed in iconic venues around the country including The Bitter End (NYC), The Viper Hall (LA) and The Bistro (SF). Although the gal has been writing and singing songs since she was young, it wasn’t until she got wrist injury doing gymnastics that nudged her towards a career path in songwriting. “Something” is the second release from the gal’s upcoming record, which will be out in June of this year. You can keep up with the gal via Instagram.
