If you use TikTok, you probably heard of Public’s “Make You Mine” – the track went viral on the app where more than one million videos were made under three months. Now, having accumulated 25 million streams to date, “Make You Mine” is getting released as bundles via Island Records – the new label home of Public. “It was in a basement in high school that we sat and dreamed of not only one day being a signed band but being a part of the label that housed our favorite artists – Island,” shared the trio. Congrats to the trio and make sure to enjoy the new release below:
“‘Make You Mine’ is, at its heart, a song about romance, innocence, and simpler times. Holding hands, looking deeply into someone’s eyes, and those overwhelming butterflies that come with finally getting to know that person you couldn’t stop thinking about. It’s become not only a very special tune to us and our fans, but a moment and opportunity for us to encourage our listeners to treat each other with respect and care. To always see each other as human beings – not products or disposable objects. Long live true love,” shared Public.
Comprised of grade school friends John Vaughn (vocals/guitar), Matthew Carter Alvarado (bass/synth/vocals), and Ben Lapps (percussion), Public is a pop/rock band from Cincinnati, Ohio. They played their first show in high school and since then have toured with the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Walk The Moon, and The Driver. Be on the lookout for more Public transmissions from Island soon.
