A song about feelings

Canadian indie pop quartet Paper Lions floods us with the unexpected wave of euphoria we experience at the beginning of a romance in new single “Fireworks” where they use sparkling bursts and glimmering strides of chords to capture such short-lived, yet memorable sensation. Through thrumming synths and cascading drumbeats, Paper Lions keep us on the cathartic top of thrilling sensation while subtly reminding us of the temporary nature of it. Stream below:

“‘Fireworks’ tries to capture the thrill of a new relationship,” the band explained. “At the start of a romance, there’s often a night where things just click, and your feelings explode. While those feelings sometimes quickly fade, you always remember the mystery, melancholia and excitement. It plays out in your mind as vividly as if it were yesterday.”

The track is from Paper Lions’ upcoming record Stay Together, which will be out on October 18th. In support of the album, the quartet will be playing a record release show the following day so don’t miss them:
