Still from Jordan Mackampa – Parachutes YouTube

UK-Congolese artist Jordan Mackampa gives us a metaphorical depiction of the mental battle we go through in a relationship in his new video “Parachutes.” Directed by Tom Ewbank, “Parachutes” portrays a couple where one partner’s emotional abuse makes the other partner shut down and become more isolated. It’s a powerful portrait of the external and internal struggles we face when we’re with someone who is poisonous:

“I wanted this video to capture the mental, and sometimes physical battles we go through in relationships, whether they are platonic or romantic with people in our lives,” explained Jordan. “It can sometimes feel as though you’re dealing with two different people, but no one else sees the other person you encounter who brings you pain and hurt, rather than joy. You become inwards within yourself until you can’t take it anymore and have to walk away from them, even if it’s hard.”

The track is from Jordan’s upcoming debut record Foreigner, which will be out on March 13th, 2020. Jordan is currently on the road with Amber Run, so go see him:
