Brooklyn-made trio Nation of Language gives us a synthetic flood of drizzling beats and swishing samples over a dark upbeat atmosphere in their new single “Rush & Fever.” It’s a steady dose of adrenaline where you can’t help but luxuriate in the moody grandeur that is found within the loops and hooks of the hypnotic soundscape. Stream below:

“Nation of Language was sparked by a period of personal awakening around early new wave,” shared Ian on the origins of the group. “Specifically, as I was listening to a version of OMD’s ‘Electricity,’ It occurred to me that a moment in time existed when it seemed everyone still had a kind of ‘beginner’s mind’ about how synthesizers could be used and fit into the musical landscape. They were wielding this technology as a blunt instrument, and it felt like I had been given permission to do the same.”

“Rush & Fever” is from the trio’s upcoming debut record Introduction, Presence, which will be out on April 3rd. Comprised of songwriter/vocalist Ian Devaney, keyboardist Aidan Devaney, and bassist Michael Sui-Poi, Nation of Language have been garnering buzz for their knack to craft new wave with the edgy elements of punk. They’ll be embarking on their tour soon, so go see them:
