Gus Dapperton arrives today with the news of his sophomore album Orca, which will be out on September 18thvia AWAL. The record will tap into heavy-hearted topics of human pain and the growth/renewal that we gain from such experience. Along with the announcement, Dapperton has shared a new single and lyric video titled “Post Humorous” featuring clips of his friends and family around the world including his sister Amadelle, musicians Benee, Remi Wolf, Orion Sun, and Santi, etc. Hit play:
Orca began taking shape in 2018 when Dapperton was on tour and experiencing the extreme highs and lows of nomadic life. “I was unbalanced,” he recalled. “My lifestyle and habits had gotten extreme. I wasn’t getting eight hours of sleep a night, I was drinking and doing drugs often. Wasn’t eating healthy. And on top of it, I was performing. A show can be the most inspirational, emotional high; but if something goes wrong it can be devastating.”
With Orca, Dapperton will explore his own experiences with mental health and rediscovering balance again. Make sure to keep him under your radar for more updates.
