Alternative R&B artists Juletta + Ishan takes us on a smoky and meditative journey of aging and the wisdom that we gain (hopefully) in their new single “But Judi, Everything Changes.” Built on fluorescent synths and flawlessly pitched vocals of Juletta, the track mirrors the existential thoughts that invade us when we reflect our own relationship with aging. “To me, the song is about processing and understanding age,” shared Juletta. “I examined the lives of my lineage: my grandmother, and her mother and her mother for guidance and wisdom.” Hit play:
On their collaboration, Ishan commented: “Working with Juletta was like letting me loose on a playground. The beauty of her voice and her openness to my experimentation allowed me to grapple with ideas that had possessed my mind as a producer, but that I’d never had the chance to fully explore: blending folk and house music, bringing something new to what the great musicians of the past have achieved, and manipulating voice to create a hybrid between human and machine.”
Juletta first met Ishan in 2018 and quickly bonded for their mutual taste for music. They released a folk pop EP Wild Nature along with multiple singles under her name. The duo is currently working on more music.
