LA/London-based artist Pauli The PSM has shared his new single and video for “Don’t Hold Your Breath” ft. Tawiah. It’s a slow-burning, ethereal piece where Pauli explores the value of breathing – especially during this weird year. Weaved with the smoky strands of R&B, “Don’t Hold Your Breath” uncoils and stretches seamlessly as Pauli engages in a stunning choreography with Nana Yaa. Watch below:
“With coronavirus attacking the respiratory system and the murder of George Floyd where he uttered his final words “I can’t breathe,” we are universally reminded of the importance of our breath and it being the one thing that invariably connects all living beings,” shared Pauli.
On the visuals, he detailed: “The process of making a video with the intention of collective healing was truly cathartic. Nana Yaa comes from a family of healers and I wanted this piece to reflect the magical healing powers that black women possess. This is a visual statement honouring the black womxn in my life.”
