Early 90s apply as well

Hailing from Watford, UK, Lakes have shared the video for their latest single “Pine Barrens” today which uses vintage cinematic aesthetics that makes us feel like we’re watching a home video from late 80s or early 90s. We get to see the joys and arts of skiing in the snow, carefree and intimate that makes us nostalgic of past holiday seasons. The track is a hazy indie rock piece peppered with the raw sparks of folk – check it out:

Lakes started as the solo project of drummer Matt Shaw back in 2017 when he was making acoustic demos. The project quickly went on to become the six-piece band who shared their penchant for American Football, Minus The Bear, and The Appleseed Cast. After releasing two EPs independently, the band signed to The LP Cafe label in the UK and Friend of Mine Records in Japan where they released their debut full-length The Constance LP in August 2019. Since then they’ve been vanguards of the UK emo scene with their music. “Pine Barrens” is the follow up of their latest record This World of Ours, It Came Apart, which was released back in July 2020 via Know Hope Records.
