Denver-based act Retrofette capture the biting irony of scrolling down doomsday posts along with ‘photogenic hipster kids’ on Instagram in their latest single “Photogenic.” Bouncing in a peppy fashion, “Photogenic” sends you spinning like a broken disco ball hooking you with its shimmering synths, but also nudging you into the dark side. Lyrically, the song taps into the duality we’re experiencing across social media – we get bombarded with apocalyptic information on the pandemic, climate change, political polarization, etc. And at the same time, you see highly filtered Instagrammers invading you with an #ad post:
