Hailing from Austin, 1st Base Runner is the solo project of Tim Husmann who is a seasoned musician that has performed with various acts around the world. From drums to synths, Husmann is a multi-talented artist whose strengths lie on his aptitude to craft songs meticulously graced with eccentric details. His latest single “All Thoughts” is a dark alternative piece where Husmann draws influences from gothic and shoegaze, combining them into one slick lo-fi soundscape. It is a pensive and even slightly ominous melody as Husmann’s smooth vocals questions his state of mind. Within the hazy atmosphere and buoyant strings, there is a sense of restlessness that can be found underneath the dreamy euphony. The track comes with a cinematic video that makes you feel like you’re watching a horror/thriller film with its stunning noir visuals and that creepy mask at 0:40. That mask is going to haunt our dreams for the rest of this month:

Originally from Amarillo, Husmann is an artist who isn’t afraid of biting into the most controversial topics and ironies of modern life. His upcoming record Seven Years of Silence, finds Husmann dealing with his own vulnerability. “It was something that had to be made. I had tried to suppress the concepts and ideas explored in the 8 tracks for several years. It is my willingness to be vulnerable and laid bare before others in an attempt to glimpse some fundamental truths about what it means to be here and to be present. It is an exploration of expectations and shortcomings and how they in turn will make us all the more uniquely human. No one gets out with clean hands, not on this ride, and not in this lifetime,” he shared.

Seven Years of Silence will be out on April 8th.
