Danish-Icelandic pop artist DAVID44 teams up with Norwegian songwriter Caroline Ailin (Katy Perry, Dua Lipa, Zara Larsson, etc.) in new single “Understood.” The track is based on DAVID44’s own experience being unhappily engaged with someone and the absence of good communication that was the root of the problem. But contrary to the hefty theme, “Understood” is a quirky upbeat track where DAVID44 toys with breezy rhythmic flows and soulful riffs that capture the freedom of moving on from such situation. The song comes with a video directed by Alexander Kaiser where we get to see DAVID44’s performance chemistry:
“Caroline is basically one of the world’s hottest songwriters right now. And to be honest, it’s almost a joke that she wrote a song with me,” chuckled DAVID44 on working with Caroline who is dating one of his best friends. He continued, “COVID-19 had caused lockdowns and we started to drop by each other’s places for dinner all the time. Isolated and bored to death we ended up jamming some nights and together we created ‘Understood.’”
“Understood” is from DAVID44’s upcoming sophomore record, which will be out this fall.
