With their DIY spirit and boundless curiosity, Lycio return with a new smashing anthem titled “I Will Take Over.” As the title connotes, it’s a song that embraces badassery and gives a sweet fuck-you to anyone who has tried to get on their way. Blending explosive elements of synthpop and edginess of rock, “I Will Take Over” is a bold statement built on hefty blood-rushing riffs that keep your adrenalins racing. Inspired by their own frustrations and lessons with the music industry, the new track finds Lycio showcasing growth and not giving a fuck to things that aren’t worth it:
Of the song, singer Mendez shared: “So as you may have guessed from the hostility within the title, this song is mostly about me (and the rest of Lycio) coming up. An anthem to let the music industry, to let the world know that we are done taking its shit. When we came into the game, we were once wide eyed and naïve. Eager to please and maybe even brown nose a little. But then you grow and realise that the world is run by terrible people and it’s perfectly acceptable to look out for no.1 sometimes. And I think that’s what we’re going to be doing from now on. We’re definitely over being pushed around or overlooked. Someday, we’ll take over.”
The track is out now via the band’s own label Lycio Records.
