Canadian artist Ormiston shower us with vintage disco vibes from 70s/80s with his latest single and video “Rebel.” Directed by Ariel Poupart, “Rebel” features Ormiston surrounded by retro tv screens where he showcases his performance mojo while pushing all of our nostalgic pressure points. “Rebel” is an infusion of disco and chillwave that gets your mood floating over cloud 9, while also keeping you suspended between the past and the present:
On the video, Director Ariel Poupart noted:
“Along with Ormiston, we decided to go with a Top of the Pops setting for his musical performance. I loved the texture of the song Rebel that felt very analogic to me. I wanted to recreate that same texture though the images and got very inspired by everything that could alter the image. When we settled on using old cathodic televisions as a means to distort and modify the visuals, I got very enthusiastic and so we got 13 of them!”
“Rebel” is from Ormiston’s upcoming debut album, which will be out this spring.
