Mia Nicolai addresses one of the most common flaws we possess in her latest single titled “People Pleaser.” As its title implies, the track captures one’s desire to please anyone even if it might do some self-harm. With its slick, poised vocals and buoyant melody, “People Pleaser” is an introspective journey that invites you to step outside and reorganize your priorities. In her own words, “This song is about the journey towards finding yourself. It can be very difficult to be true to your inner values when all you do is please the people around you instead of your inner needs. I’ve always come across as a strong-minded person. But In reality, I’m capable of helping everyone BUT myself. At some point, I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin that I couldn’t even breathe properly.” Hit play:
She further added, “The chorus carries a feeling of it’s all good, and even when it’s not; it’ll all be okay. A soft reminder to myself to take it day by day and not expect things to completely change overnight. I feel like it’s something I will be working on my entire life and I don’t mind that cos every day is an opportunity to learn more about my values and needs. Sometimes I struggle sharing them and some days it comes as easy as watching a movie.”
Born to a Russian mom and Dutch dad in Amsterdam, Mia grew up defying anything conventional. Her maverick approach led her to living in different cities such as London, Melbourne, New York, and Los Angeles. She released her debut single “Set Me Free” last year and has garnered support from press and fans worldwide.
