The Greeting Committee Nail The Comfort Of Not Fake Smiling In “Float Away”

Existential resting bitch face is our favorite facial mode

Kansas City-based band The Greeting Committee captures that feeling of melancholic relief when you don’t have to deal with humanity thanks to circumstances beyond control (aka rain) in their new single “Float Away.” It’s a gauzy, kinda upbeat pop piece sprayed with existential lyrics where the restless riffs glow with equal parts sadness and happiness. “There’s a line in the chorus that says, ‘Stale rye, once an apple’s eye,’ which is a way of saying, ‘I used to have so much potential, and now I’m sitting here frozen, and I don’t know what to do with myself,’” noted frontwoman Addie Sartino. The track is from their upcoming album Dandelion, which will be out on September 24th via Harvest Records.
